English course review and self-evaluation

 

Learning english at university, has been a pretty good experience, because I think it is a really comfortably place to learn, by helping each other practicing a not cotidian language. I think, zoom classes are not that fun to learn, but it has a big advantage which is the fact that I don’t have to travel to Santiago, that is really good to me, because travelling that much is really exhausting and expensive ;(.

I don’t like that much writing blogs, is my first time, i just think that is less fun that talking with others in person, but a good thing is that it is very helpful with the writing . That’s why sometimes to improve my english level and when I don’t want anyone to know what I am talking about, I speak in English with my biggest sister, it is a really good method if you want to say something secret and you don’t want people to listen.

I think I still have to improve my English, in a grammatical way, it is a little complicated and sometimes when i’m talking nobody understand it. Besides that, I need to learn new vocabulary, i think that’s one of the things we all need, because we are not into a place where everybody speak English, so we don’t need to search for that new vocabulary, but one thing that is very helpful for vocabulary is watching movies in English with subtitles!

Changes to my study programme

I’m still studying to get my undergraduate degree in antropology with a mention in archeology. When i first decided to study in university of Chile one of the things that make me chose that place to study was the curriculum mesh, i found it really entertaining and i defenely wanted to be in a career like that, but while i’m studying i think there’s a few things i’ll like to change.

The first thing i would like to do would be to put more practical bouquets in the mesh. I think that to get close to the discipline and above all if you are recently geting into universitary world, puting something practical could make us getting involve quickly in this área of study.

I will also like to change some teaching methods, almost all the teachers always do the same to teach, wich is just making us read long books and then have a test, but a little change in the methodology could make students get to understand better the dense course contents.

Another thing FACSO (faculty of social science) need to change urgently, is the infraestructure and the access to technology to the students. The building is to old and the classsrooms are not equipped to the amount of people that need to be there. And it would be awesome if there could be and implementation of technology into the way of teaching a social science!!

Time travel to the past

If i had the opportunity to travel through the time, i would go to the very past. Im really curious about watching with my own eyes the world before all the technology, pollution, capitalism, wars, among many other things. I think, nature is one of the things i most love about being in this world, there you can find all the thing you need to survive, you can eat from the ground, it's amazing! 

So if i had the oportunity, i really would like to feel everything by puting myself in the middle of a virgin forest, prairie, all the waterfalls, lakes and rivers that are no longer here. I would like to know the animals that were here before us, even if is a dangerous and crazy idea, i would really like to see it from myself.

I think i'd travel to the past, instead of the future, because if i wait, i will see the future with my eyes, but there is not another way to get to know the world without human destruction. However i don't think that it would be a good idea to stay a lot of time there, so i would like to travel there for a few days, or even one day. I think just to watch all the amazings landscapes just one time, will be enough!

A job i would like to have in the future

 If i think about my future, i always try to visualize myself doing something related to the career im actually studyng. Within this area of study, i would like to focus in underwater/maritime archeology. I know this is an unconvencional job in the country, however i'd like to learn everything about this work and to do anything i can to promote the study of chilean seabed, because i think is really important to do the thing that you love in the place you were born. Likewise, one of my job dreams is to become a professional "barista" (coffee maker), and to establish my own cafeteria. I always imagine myself making a cozy place with good music and a good view to people who really enjoy drinking a hot coffee, in a place like a road, or even in the middle of a green forest. I also know that the "work world"is a completely confuse and overwhelming place, but i  reallydon't like to worry to much about it, i honestly like to do a lot of things, so i really think i can be happy in every place, and that's all that matters!!

The best holiday ever

My best holidays were this year, I went to the south of the country, the region of the “Araucania”. I went to a town named “Curacautin” with my family, because there was the place where my mother was raised when she was a childe. It was a very touching trip, and we had the opportunity to know a lot of places near Curacautin, like Lonquimay, Victoria, Malalcahuello, Lautaro, among others. We did a lot of things, the first day we arrived there, we get lost but we found a place at the top of a hill named “Cañon del blanco”, it was a hill full of native trees, waterfalls, and also natural hot springs. Their water were heated by a geyser in the top of the hill, and there was a treking path to get there. My whole family tried to get to the top, but my father and I were the only people who arrived ¡it was so exhausting! But the view was unspeakable. Then we went down the hill and take a bath on the hot spring, with an amazing view, we were there since from 9pm to 12am, it was crazy, but one of the best experiences I´ve had.

                                                  

The country i would like to visit

           

I´ve been dreaming about travelling since i was a child, and the first place that come out of my mind when i think about it is Irland. The first thing that called my attention were the pictures i´ve seen, their were composed by beautiful landscapes with old buildings, their green lawn, their big sea crashing the cliffs, that´s all like a perfect paint to me that remembers me of a celtic spirit. Of course it´s not all about the views, if I was there I would like to know the way that people live, their culture, for example their prison system is amazing, created to reintegrate rehabilitated people on their country. Also their education system have lot of guaranties, and is categorized as one of the best educations around the world. They have a great economy too. All this elements makes me decide that this can be one of the best places I can get to know!
